Endurance Training Programming: 25 Min Phys

Endurance Training Programming: 25 Min Phys

In this video, Dr. Andy Galpin discusses various programming considerations when thinking about endurance training.

Specifically, Dr. Galpin discusses various types of endurance, how to train to cause specific adaptations related to endurance, and he gives examples of what this would look like in terms of exercise type, sets/reps, duration, and much more helpful information!

  1. I couldn’t understand your pronunciation.My doubt: I am a male,64years of age.If I have to do HIIT, what ratios (work:rest) you recommend? Please.

  2. Incredible resource…. I love that I live in an age where I have free and instant access to high-quality, in-depth information!

  3. Is there a video on long duration endurance for runners? Are there any specific workouts that would prepare me to run a half marathon?

  4. Thanks for the great video. Maybe someday expand on how/when you include down regulation breathing for interval training? Or what about down regulation between different workouts in the same day?

  5. vo2max duration up to 15min? Not in my experience. My experience tells me its quite close to 1 mile all out if you’re a trained runner, which would put it in the 6-minute range +/-. Can you clarify?

  6. why cant someone just tell me which exercise to do so I can have sex with out getting winded not a joke just tell me

  7. So Anaerobic & Aerobic endurance intervals could look the same or similar in terms of work:rest ratio. The difference comes in the total duration of the set. If working on Anaerobic Endurance, going beyond 2-3 minutes would cause the work to become aerobic, so an extended rest interval would be needed. How long does this rest interval need to be to ensure that we can begin the next set of intervals at an anaerobic level?

  9. what a great video. I miss some suggestions/guidance on how to program these sessions in together with "normal" strength 4-8 rep training. Weekly session or blocks og 3-4 weeks, every 8-10 weeks? Really look forward to your points on this.

  10. This breakdown is genuinely one of the best conditioning videos I’ve watched – so well explained thank you. I’ve been looking to improve my boxing endurance so what I learned from your video is to really mix and match the work / rest ratios … rather than just 30:30 seconds o on a jump rope for example. If you could do some boxing specific conditioning breakdowns that would be amazing thanks!

  11. This is exactly the video I needed. I wonder if different types of endurance can be performed in single workout and if yes, which one goes first and which one second

  12. Hi Andy,
I read, lifting weights can breakdown mitochondria. If this is true, then how does a road racing cyclist implement a weight training program without breaking down all the mitochondria gains from a summer of endurance riding.
